Community. Basketball. Impact.

Bayanihan Dallas is a volunteer-led charitable organization that brings the Dallas–Fort Worth community together through sports, events, and fundraising. Our flagship event, the Annual Charity 3V3 Basketball Tournament, combines competitive basketball with community and a clear purpose: every tournament raises money for a nonprofit partner chosen that year.

“Bayanihan” is a Filipino word for a spirit of communal unity — traditionally, neighbors coming together to help one another, literally carrying the load together. That’s the idea behind what we do: bring people onto the court together so that, collectively, we can carry something meaningful for our community.

Since our first tournament in 2017, we’ve hosted six charity events and raised more than $13,500 for causes including hunger relief, mental health awareness, and youth mentorship — both locally in North Texas and internationally.

We’re now planning our 7th Charity Tournament and we’re looking for new charity partners, sponsors, and players to be part of it.

Who We Are

James Valera — Founder

“I wanted to take basketball, a game I love, and try to help make a difference in my community. I wanted to help build something bigger than myself — starting Bayanihan Dallas felt like a step in the right direction.”

With the dedicated support of our core organizers — Tina Le, Billy Lam, Chris Valera, Thomas Sin, Bruce Lam, Gai Vorakoummane, Raymond Nunez, Alexis Le, Rosalyn Le, and Peony Luangket — and the volunteers who show up year after year to make it happen.
